TLDR: Nurse applies for a job and gets rejected because she got me in trouble 6 years ago.
  • 02
You get me in trouble for dumb reason, you don't get a job.
  • 03
I'm (28)m a nurse manager at a hospital and Lady (Bianca) calls the hospital looking for a job and The call was forwarded to me. The lady asked if we were hiring and she gave me her name and her phone number. She said she goes by (Bianca) but her name is something else. She's been calling here a couple times a day and wanted to come to the hospital in person to leave her résumé. I tell her to apply online. And I gave her the link.

She applies online I'll look at her résumé and noticed her name sounded familiar, but I didn't think too much of it. I looked up her license and she was a red flag. So I reject her application. The next day she comes in person wanting to meet me and leaves her résumé at the front desk, even though I told her not to come in person.

Then I come to the realization that I've worked with this lady a few years ago at another hospital. I was about 22 at the time and I was not a nurse at the time, just a tech. She was the only nurse I did not get along with and we had an argument About getting a temperature on a 2 year old kid with a complaint of fever.
  • 06
She wanted me to get the temperature rectally and I told her no because I got it orally instead, kid is capable of comprehending how to put thermometer under her tongue. I told her if she wanted a rectal temperature she needed to do it herself. We argue about it, and She gets mad because she is a big lady and had knee problems and she was lazy. She got me in trouble with my manager for not “ helping”.

Fast forward to yesterday, after I realized who she was, I called my boss from my old hospital to verify her name. My boss told me that she was fired from the job Years ago for throwing her badge at my boss. I told the front desk clerk to throw her résumé in the shredder.

Today she calls again asking for me, I do not reply. Tldr: lady applies for job gets rejected because she got me in trouble 5-6 years ago.

ExtremeAthlete - 1 day ago If she wants a job interview, ask her to take her own temperature rectally first. Reply Share 124 AprilB916 2 days ago I like when the universe gives us these moments for a little payback! Gotta give her credit for being persistent, although probably desperate. Side note ....I haven't seen old thermometer's used in many years.

Professional_Elk1845 OP - 1 day ago She is very persistent and that is pretty admirable, I would have taken time out of my day to meet her and talk to her if I didn't realize who she was. I believe in second chances. But she doesn't deserve any of my time. Sharing this post about her is enough for me. 103 Reply Share

silvusx 1 day ago As a nurse, she has to be incredibly bad at her job to be desperately applying at hospitals. Everywhere is short, everywhere. ITACH, SNF, plenty to go around. She must've made a name for herself. 44 Reply Share

BeautifulPhantom1 - 1 day ago Clearly she isn't good at following directions on top of all the other reasons she isn't a good candidate. Guess she was hoping you remembered her fondly if she keeps calling and asking for you directly. Hopefully you take her call soon and let her know that you have filled the position so she doesn't keep calling and trying to bug you. 41 Reply Share

Professional_Elk1845 OP - 1 day ago I don't think she remembers me, and she's only asking for me because I initially spoke to her on the phone. I've only worked with her a handful of times when I was a tech. ↑ 39 Reply Share

774969929166485 1 day ago I had an employee threatening to fight me on sight, after I fired him for NCNS. 5 years later he applied for a job in the same niche industry and mentioned working for my company. The hiring manager called me and asked if I knew him. I did not have positive things to say about him. 27 Reply Share

Tarik861 1 day ago I'd be careful about shredding that resume (although if she applied online, you're probably covered). Why not instead send the generic, "Thank you for your application but your skill set does not meet our current needs. We'll let you know if something comes up and good luck".

You've fulfilled your obligation under the law, you've been polite (which is more than many employers do) and she's not your problem. You could put in a statement that all future applications have to be submitted online and through HR and that you cannot meet with her about it, either now or in the future. I'm not sure I wouldn't have this letter come from HR. Then if she persists, the additional reason for not hiring is that she can't follow directions.

Professional_Elk1845 OP- 1 day ago Thank you for the tip! I am new to this role by a few months so I'll keep that in mind. Reply Share 29 Z4-Driver 1 day ago Or maybe escalate the petty futher by inviting her to an interview. Once you show up, she might realise, if she recognises you. If not, you could just greet her and then tell her why you will never hire her.

-FalconKick- 2 days ago Be careful who you step on on your way up because you'll meet them on the way down Reply Share 23 StreetTailor7596 - 1 day ago She keeps calling and coming by because nobody else will have her. Just let her know you remember her from an old job. She'll stop bothering you.

Spinnerofyarn. 1 day ago When you cron people consistently and work in an industry long enough, word can get around and you get what you deserve! This person sounds nasty. If she can't follow basic directions before she's even interviewed, it would be no surprise to find she doesn't as an employee and thinks she knows better than everyone else as she's already demonstrated. 4 24凸 Reply Share

Snored CosBored - 1 day ago I wouldnt say this is revenge as you had already rejected her before because of your due diligence rather than because of who she was to you. I'm sure realising who she was after the fact did make it very satisfying though. ↑ 13 ↓ Reply Share
